Ronald McDonald House Harvest Party Oct 21, 2006
Written by Karen A. Feldeisen
The weather was a beautiful sunshiny day. The smiles on all those staying at the house also brought warmth to the day. Helping out to make this an especially fun day were: Nancy and Frank Cavanaugh (chairpeople); Eydie, Jim, Logan and Nolan Sheridan; Pam Orlando; Colleen Linton; Barbara and Scott Simpson; Tanya and Allison Pratte; Marianne and Keith Watson; and last but not least Richard and Karen Feldeisen.
We started the event with helping everyone carve those wonderful pumpkins that Nancy was fortunate enough to get donated this year. There was all kinds of faces, some scary, some smiling and some goofy. Then there were other works of art like spider webs, spiders and fun stickies. Richard and Frank were helpful and went out and picked up flashlights to put in them since what we had originally picked up wouldn’t work. Oh well, they didn’t go to waste we just put a push flashlight in each goodie bucket.
Next was the distribution of goodie buckets that were filled with frosting and candies for cupcake decorating. Thanks to Eydie and Jim we had really neat looking cupcakes to give them to decorate. They were also very yummy. J There was also, noise makers, straws that some how also became noise makers, bubbles, paddle balls, wooden Halloween figures that could be colored, Halloween stamps, rings and other assorted fun stuff.
While they were having fun going through their goodie buckets, we did bobbing for apples and if they were lucky enough to get one (which they all were) they were able to pick out a prize.
We also did a raffle that allowed everyone to pick out a prize that included things like food buckets, Halloween masks, Halloween stickers, Halloween bandanas, beads and other assorted goodies.
When all was said and done, all the parrotheads went outside, we each held a pumpkin that was decorated and took a picture, soon to be posted on the website as soon as we can figure out how to post pictures without dropping the site…J
The winner of the 50/50 raffle is a secret and will be announced by Nancy at the club meeting on November 14th, at 6:30pm at Pasquales. So hope to see you all there.
Until then, may your Phins always help you cut through life’s rough water.
